1. The stone of the stone houses is durable, non-combustible, resistant to damage, against pests, and free of rot. While some wood buildings tend to be destroyed and broken down after about 50 years, well-structured stone structures often stand for centuries. It is not possible to lose a stone house by fire, but even if the wooden frame would be somehow flared, you could probably rebuild it from the original stone shell.

And while other homeowners may waste time and money fighting termites, rodents and wet / dry rot you can sit behind your almost impermeable stone walls and relax – even decades after.

  2. The stone itself is attractive and as a building material of the stone houses it does not require maintenance. Natural stone comes in so many shapes, sizes, colors and textures, so, the final appearance of a rock is limited only by the imagination of the builder, his courage, his methods and his efforts.

Another great advantage of “rock life” is that – once your stone house is finished – you may completely forget about maintenance: You will not have to repaint, repair holes in wood or cracks in concrete.

Your stone house will remain exactly as beautiful and colorful, unchangable in time.

  3. The stone material for a stone house is the ultimate insulation. With the ongoing energy crisis, many may oppose to dense stone because it is not considered a good insulating material. But – at least in most moderate climates – the stones will help keep you comfortable. They gain warmth slowly during the day, and then radiate that warmth during a cool night. The walls cooling at night will cool the interior of the house on the next day.

In excessive heat or cold, it is useful to have some form of additional insulation, as well as in constructions of different building materials.

If you carefully seal all the cracks around the doors and windows, you can be sure that it will not be possible for air to penetrate through this dense mass of stone and concrete.

  4. Stone is conventionally acceptable. While there are relatively few stone houses, their long and successful history ensures them a general dignity, which – unfortunately – is not so easy to build up if we think about different types of building materials!
  5. Stone Houses can have enormous resale value. Perhaps you have no intention of ever leaving your stone house, however, your life goals and living conditions are changing – and if you decide to sell – you could be offered a small fortune.

As we said earlier, stone houses are comparatively rare (this lack is in itself an important reason for buying, except of course that a well structured stone construction is really beautiful and durable) Thus, despite the fact that such houses can be constructed without unbearable cost (as prices of houses and building materials go up and up nowadays) – a stone house may prove kind of an investment!
